Loved how this image was exposed for the highlights instead of the midrange. Adds drama, interest. The color palette is pretty cool, too. First place. Second place got axed the first time through, but that's why we look at images a second time, too. Originally looked at it as just another cute kid picture (X 3), but then we noticed the moment and solid composition. The color certainly doesn't hurt it either. Third place just had some crazy lighting. The moment is a little off-moment, but that light. Nice seeing. The composition works, too, although one judge wanted to see it turned into more of a shallow horizontal.
