First Place does an incredibly good job of bringing us into a tender moment with the subject without feeling invasive. What we see here is a real genuine reaction. Second Place is a very different situation, in that the people have a more joyful reaction at an odd event. Third Place is an interesting way to address the travel ban issues. The photographer does an excellent job of giving us a good sense of place. It includes information we need to give us some context, much like the second-place photo does, too.
