GF-KHQ - 10 9 8 9 - I think this was my favorite. It's the most intelligent story I judged. It was very interesting, which is saying something because it's almost constructed like a lecture. I felt involved the whole time, I liked how we moved along with everyone in the story. You also had some beautiful shots here. My one complaint would be that I thought some of your parallel parking didn't really work. But that's about it. I really enjoyed this. |
TB-KHQ - 8 9 8 9 - Visually, this was my favorite piece. Every shot here was composed with care, coupled with great nats to make the story flow. I felt like it lagged in a few places but maybe with such a well shot piece that it was intentional? Good characters, good shooting, interesting topic- Great job! |
HM-KHQ - 7 7 8 8 - The shots were all well composed and the story flowed so greatly. The only thing holding me back on this story was I felt lie there weren't enough of those natrual, unplanned moemnts that shined. Once the kids got there I felt like some of it was rushed. Maybe low on time? I really liked it, it was well thought out and put together. |
TM-KHQ - 9 9 9 9 - Beautiful shots! Great composition and eye for detail. Interesting exploration of an unusual topic. Loved the intro sequence. Lots of great character moments. I can tell you put a lot of work into this, and it really paid off. Fun fact: your story was the last one we watched, and also one of only a couple that didn't rely on some sort of GoPro-related gimmick, which really felt like a breath of fresh air. Well done.

GF-KHQ - 8 9 9 9 - This was really great the first three minutes or so. Lots of good ideas with editing at play here, and thoroughly fun to watch. Loved your shot variety. The last minute dragged a bit for me. I think your techniques became overused, and the standup didn't work for me. I realize it's loud in there, but initially I was confused by what I was looking at. I think your nats were a bit too loud throughout, but the editing flourishes were very cool. |
HM-KHQ - 8 9 9 9 - My favorite story out of all of them. Lots of great ideas that were put on screen very well. The only thing I didn't like was the stand-up, which may not have been your choice, and the length. I did think it dragged on a bit and would've felt more concise otherwise. |
TB-KHQ - 8 9 10 9 - Loved this. So many amazing and creative ideas you had here. From the lighting-fast editing to the the cell phone videos there was so much to like here. Just the concept of following an auctioneer around was original and exciting. You varied the interview shots up and had so many good nat pops. A couple of notes, I didn't think the standup worked too well, I get what you were trying to do, but I just coudn't hear the reporter. It was too loud in many place and maybe you used the lighting editing one too many times. Bravo! |
TM-KHQ - 8 8 9 9 - Lots to like here. Fun character, good setup, some clever shots, nice use of editing techniques to create the feeling of speed, and shooting the phone was a cool way to incorporate file footage. My main criticism is that I think the story overstays its welcome. I wonder if this would have been a tighter, more impactful presentation with 30-60 seconds shaved off?

GF-KHQ - 8 8 8 8 - Very fun story, fun character, and I thought you did some really creative things at the dance club - the nats sequencing was crisp and really worked with the tempo of the story. The production of the story at the house was less impressive. I get that it's a hard place to shoot, but it seemed sloppy, with some unmotivated dissolves and jump cuts. Overall though I really enjoyed the story and thought you did a nice job. |
TB-KHQ - 8 7 8 8 - Cool and amazing story! I thought your strongest suit were the scenes at the club, great editing and shots made this really tie together. I also loved the intro |
HM-KHQ - 8 9 8 8 - The most fun I had watching any of the stories. Loved it. The only thing I didn't like was some of the shots inside the house, felt crmaped, but I could tell you really tried. Loved the multiples revelas you had in the story. Mom's framing was odd, a little distracting but overall I loved the story and really enjoyed it. Well done. |
TM-KHQ - 9 8 8 9 - Loved how you structured this! The dancing machine was not who I was expecting! And holding back the moment where he starts dancing until later in the piece had a great payoff. Great use of depth of field in club. Interviews were lit well, but could have benefitted from stronger backgrounds, the mom especially. Mom was also at that awkward angle where she's looking a bit far to the side, but not far enough to be a true profile. |

GF-KHQ - 9 8 9 8 - This was a great story with an awesome character. I wasn't always sure where the story was going, but it eventually came together. The story is hard to tell visually but I thought you did a nice job showing how she regained her sight. The story was very well paced throughout. I don't have much more to say - nice work. |

TM-KHQ - 8 9 9 9 - Great job with a difficult story to make visual. Was impressed by the creative and subtle use of broll. The opening sequence was great. Really got my attention. You took a story that wasn't innately visual, and made it interesting!
