Judges Comments

This was a great category with awesome entries that showed hustle, professionalism and thoughtfulness on the part of the photographers. These choices were not unanimous by the judges because of the great images. First: Judges liked the intensity of the moment shown by the dramatic colors and movement of the firefighter. The colors reflected on the wet hose helped a lot. Second: We liked the body language and anguish of the man grieving for his trapped and injured friend. All the faces in the photo added to the intense moment. Third: We liked the genuine moment between the proud firefighter and the relieved cat owner and were glad to see the photographer left the damaged building in the crop. HM: We loved the hustle of the photographer to get to the scene of the woman trapped in the car by live wires but it didn't make the top three because we wanted to see more face and more reaction. It may not have been possible because of the literally touchy situation.
