First place was a strong portrait with thoughtful composition and great lighting. Judges appreciated the photographer taking the risk to include lighting equipment into the frame. Second place was well-lit and the caption provided relevant background information. Judges would have liked to see better framing of the wooden building on the left of the image, but overall a solid photograph.
