Judges Comments

All three winning photographs were strong as we rewarded images that showed moments we don’t most days. In the first place image of the outfielder colliding with the wall, it immediately made us stop and look. It had drama and a uniqueness that separated it from the field. Second place initially appeared to be an ordinary baseball play. Then we noticed the player holding a hand warmer in his mouth while fielding in cold weather. That unexpected detail made the picture memorable. Third captured a catcher crashing into the fence. We liked the intensity of the moment as she almost appeared to be injured on the play.
