Judges Comments

The judges really liked the first-place photo. The graphic elements and lighting lead your eye through the frame. The second-place photo also had appealing graphic elements that, combined with the light from the welding torch, made it stand out. We also appreciated the graphic elements in “Freezing Metro Passenger.” We wondered if there was a tighter crop that would have made it even more graphic. The honorable mention of the people walking through the parking lot might have ranked higher with a tighter crop. The judges agreed that the color and shadows of the people were interesting, but they were distracted by the signs and cars in the background. Cropping tighter would greatly improve the photo.
