The top three stood out quickly in this category. But the judges had to do a double-take on the first-place winner. The cast shadow gave us a pleasant element of surprise. Coupled with the great composition and landscape textures - and a great explanatory cutline - this was our favorite. Second place appears to have been eligible for SPFT but it works here also. It's just perfect in the classic BW and the perfect composition and peak moment. Third place has great, clean graphic lines and a peak moment of the musician about to strike the drum. Choosing a silhouette was the right choice in this scenario. The alternate choice is two boys attempting a swim in cold water and the judges liked the expression and fun in the photo. The other three rose above, however.
