There were several strong entries in this category. The photograph capturing a man hanging from a fire escape during a standoff stood out as a rare and compelling moment; strong work getting to the scene quickly. Second place went to a dramatic image that effectively used light, water, and graffiti to create an artistic composition. The bus crash placed third. Overall, the entry would have benefited from a tighter edit.
