Judges were pleased to see a full category with a variety of sports.
First: Talk about "in your face" action. Judges were impressed with experienced photographers who equip themselves properly so they are prepared when game action comes to them, literally.
Second: Athletes flipping in any sport always makes a cool frame.
Third: The juxtaposition of the athletes' face the ball makes the photo. Excellent work making sure the background was clean to avoid distraction from the action.
Alternate: The eyes of the player being pressured are so expressive.
