The deliberate use of foreground, middle ground and background elements was impressive and helped draw contrast between the crash and children’s soccer practice happening around it. The fatal crash series of images was incredibly strong in how it showed the recovery of a car from where it crashed into the wharf. Many images showed important details such as the oil in the water and interesting framing using caution tape, but we felt that the last image was not nearly as strong as the others, and it threw off the sequencing built from the previous images. The image of the beached sailboat was another good example of framing and using out of focus foreground elements to communicate the details of the story.
