There were only three entries in this category. The first-place story about undocumented agricultural workers was the strongest of all. We appreciated the variety of images and the depth of information they provided. The second-place essay about the aftermath of the Charlie Kirk shooting was informative but too lengthy. We valued that the photographer covered a range of situations, from police presence to vigils and public grief, but it could have been tightened to eliminate redundancy and make it much more impactful. There were some beautiful photos in the third-place entry about Denali Park wildlife, but we decided that the depth of the subject matter in the other two entries placed them above, since the wildlife entry did not include a written summary tying the images together.
