What a moment with beautiful light and striking genuine real emotion from the boxing winner. It has a great exposure emphasizing the sweat and upper body. Third would have placed higher up with a tighter crop by cropping out the hand on the right and coming up to the knees of the player in the foreground removing the distracting orange from the catcher’s foot. It has nice layering with the three players looking down after a defeat. Part of entering clips is taking reflective moment to look at your photos without the deadline pressure for a daily publication and re-cropping if necessary. Second place. The pulsing neck and scream of Caitlin Clark paired with the fans is nice moment, and not just another photo of a top player. The shared excitement and connection make the photo.
