This category was VERY difficult to judge with so much top notch work across a spectrum of sports and leagues, from high school to the pros. This region is a hotbed of sports coverage. Rising to the top were unique images or peak action. The first place photo has an enormous degree of difficulty and it’s tack sharp. Bravo! The flying dirt, peak action of second place’s home plate play elevated it over other exceptional baseball. Third place made judges wince out loud. The Detroit Tigers collision at Homeplate was just out of the running.
