There were only three offers in the Spot News category, but just two earned merit in our opinion. The garage fire package offered a couple of fine frames, but not enough emotional content from personally challenging event. The second award frame of storm damage is well-composed. The unawarded third entry showed tornado damage, but didn't portray any human engagement or personal impact, even though the caption seemed to imply that.
