First Place: “Argentina Protest” immediately caught our eye as a winner. It's a very intense moment focused on one person, but the viewer still gets a sense of the crowded situation. Second Place: We liked the emotion in “Teacher of the Year.” It's a sharp photo, even though there is a lot of movement. The photographer captured the moment perfectly, and it helps that the light is nice for being indoors. Third Place: The viewer can tell what is happening in this tight frame without having to read the caption for “New American.” The photographer captured great emotion. Alternate: “Pope2” also was a good moment that told the viewer what was taking place without reading the caption. We would like to note that there were a lot of series submissions in this category, and they could have had a chance of placing if they were edited down. The photos in the series submissions were too repetitive.
