Generally, we are drawn to photos with lagniappe, and that's what guided our selections. First place stood out for its unscripted moment, and the the stable hand's expression in response to the pony's fondness for her made us smile. Second place captured a beautiful scene, with the painters framed high on a lift against the setting sky. We appreciate the full cutline for establishing the newsiness of the image as well.
