First place captured the excitement of a man and his father being led into the water at a polar-plunge event that benefits a regional Special Olympics organization. We loved how all the elements came together, including a participant in the background who somehow looks colder than the main subjects! Second place stood out for a tender moment between the subjects, and the expression of joy on the face of an original Rosie the Riveter was priceless. Third place, the photographer, shooting like a mad duck, beautifully captured an impossibly short-lived hometown event. Nicely done.
