Ultimately, three strong single images rose above a pair of multiple picture packages and a variety of individual captures. Emotional content won out here, and each offers an intimate and telling moment for the viewer. First place - While the judges were initially drawn to the theatrical quality of the frame, the caption added enough intrigue to elevate it into the top spot. Second place - Again, the caption enhanced this really emotional image - heightened by the body-language of the forward-facing subject. Third place - Another emotionally-gripping moment. Slightly better framing might have improved the picture even more, but still a very strong image.
