Judges Comments
A diverse collection of nicely-crafted images challenged the judges to settle on a few favorites. Several fit the category better than others, and the final selections we thought revealed the character of the subjects well. First place - Terrific use of light and 'framing' earned kudos from the judges. A caption referencing the relevance of the window frame might have been appreciated, but still, we found it to be the most visually-engaging of the entries. Second place - While not a controlled-environment portrait, the image never-the-less conveys the essence of those pictured within the context of a challenging, life-changing event. Third place - Light quality and overall framing elevated this winner. A well-crafted, on-the-spot portrait that makes the most of the available elements in the environment.
