Judges Comments

First Place: “Urban Foraging” was a nice example of a short and sweet photo story that included detail and close-up shots. The few photos included were enough to tell the story, but we thought it could have benefitted from an overall shot. Second Place: The photos in “Holiday Train” are very colorful and capture great emotion. We didn't think it was necessarily a photo story, but it was a nice collection of photos. Third Place: “Champion” told a good story, but the photos were very grainy. Some photos felt repetitive, so it could have used a tighter edit. Maybe more photos at the subject's home could have been a cool way to enhance the story. Alternate: We didn't think the other submissions were very strong photo stories, but we liked the photos in “Nutcracker Rehearsal.” To make it more of a story, maybe the photographer could have gone to more rehearsals to get details and behind-the-scenes shots.
