Warrior Games was an immediate first place for us since we could see that the photographer spent time with the subject across multiple moments in the course of the story. It felt like it fit the definition of the category the most.
Second and third place were tied between the burlesque and the canine social photo stories because while both captured a lot of variety, we would have liked to see the photographers spend more time with their subjects. Both submissions felt like a daily gallery rather than a long-form essay.
Props to the submissions that placed in this category, it was the hardest to narrow down and spurred a lot of good conversation.
