Slim pickings in this category, but these were the best of the bunch. First place earned the spot simply on the visual strength of the first image alone, although we appreciated the additional information the second photo's caption provided. Second place we were a little torn on whether it should have been classified as spot news or general news, but we opted to consider it for this category. Excellent exposure and solid frame. Beautiful scenery to boot. Info provided in the caption helped further solidify this image as our second place winner. While most would look for front line images, nice job focusing on the ancillary, and potentially more important story just beyond the fire.
