Judges Comments

Picture story was one of the stronger categories with one project in particular that reflected a lot of effort and willingness to get deep into the story - literally. Nearly every image in the first place story about the cenotes beneath Mexico’s southern Yucatan peninsula provided more information about the issue sometimes in a stunningly beautiful way. Second place was excellent as well, but the story seemed fragmented into two unconnected pieces. Third place was a well shot (though loosely edited) event that we would have rather seen in the General News category.
