First place: Talk about getting the moment! It’s so close you need to zoom in to verify they missed the tag! The photographer captured peak action well and you see a clean, tack sharp image with great toning. This is not easy to do and you can tell we are dealing with a seasoned sports photographer. Bravo/a!
Second place: Style and substance! The photographer expertly captured the moment, but added their own photographic flair. We loved the light, the sharpness, toning and technique.
Third place: Ouch! The slower shutter could have taken away from the image, but it ended up showing the accident. It could use some editing, but we were impressed by the moment that was captured.
Honorable Mention 1: Fantastic moment, sharpness and color. The play here works, and while we normally would want to see the entire hand, we understood the photographer bringing us into the action the way they did. Fur is flying and so is everything else. The wild ride is evident!
Honorable Mention 2: Another fantastic moment and image! We appreciated the use of color and light here. The expression of the cheerleader in the foreground added a lot. There is a nice balance to this image and it’s worth honoring. This shows the athleticism and skill of a sport that is sometimes underappreciated. Well done!
