Quite a few multiple picture entries in the General News category that were either diminished or elevated by edits. In a couple of cases, a really nice individual photo from the entry was hurt by weaker or redundant additional pictures.
The first award was a pretty complete set of images of a unique event. We credited the photographer's effort and the mix of photos portraying both levity and emotional impact. The framing and layering of the second award helped tell the story in a visually engaging way. In the third place photo, the expressions the various subjects in the frame helped make the picture.
