We went back and forth between first and second. Both really captured people and their spaces with good lighting and personality. Third was a great moment, hard to find in posed scenes, that really told a personality.
Many other photos here we liked but didn't fit the definition of a portrait. A good photo of a person isn't always a portrait, especially when it's an unnamed protestor or just a tight photo of an athlete during a game, we were really looking for things that captured personalities.
