The first place shot won because the judges liked the juxtaposition of the beautiful painted mural and the women then shoveling the snow. The tree in the shot even added to the shot blending in with the painting.
The second and third shots had the same feel of a moment caught of joy. The girl so excited to hold her fathers hand and with the third place the kids excitement of going down the hill. What snow day is all about. The fourth one not shown was of the father holding the kid up while walking in the snow. It would have placed higher according to some of the judges if it was cropped tighter.
