Surprised to see so few images entered in this category.
First: Clean, elegant and simple. Photographer had be in the right place at the right time, which likely involved research such as keeping track of the phases of the moon, scouting for the best location and possibly when flights might be occurring. Photographer appeared to give this image a lot of thought.
Second: Classic wintertime feature with the benefit of falling snow. Photographer waited for some subjects to take selfies and for others to look up at the snow thus creating a moment within a moment.
No third because one image was in the wrong category (should’ve been in portrait or general news) and the other did not rise to the level of a feature picture.
