First: This image has news value and a moment. The composition interesting because the photographer included clapping hands in the foreground of the frame, which adds depth and another element. However this image could’ve benefitted from a crop on the right and top as well as a stronger caption to let viewers understand why the subjects are laughing and clapping.
Second: Best emotion of the entries in this category. Although this image has some news value because of the event, it would’ve been in competition for First place had it been in the Feature Single category. This one also would benefit from a crop on the right side. Doing so would eliminate the gap after the lady in the stocking hat and the person on the far right, who doesn’t add to the image.
