First Place: We enjoyed the moment the photographer captured in “Pass.” It's the perfect timing to capture the eyes in the empty space. Second Place: “Face” is a clean photo that showed us a unique angle that we weren't seeing from other volleyball photos. Third Place: We like the great facial expressions in “Diving Effort.” It's a nice, tight crop to bring the viewer right into the peak action. Alternate: The backlighting in “Water Boys” makes for a unique photo. It could have used better framing.
