Judges Comments

First place rose up de to the little moment that broke the pattern of candle lighting. Second place struck us as a moment of joy, the composition letting us walk down the line of characters looking for more expressions and surprises. The third place photo is one that all of us has had to make and felt the use of a high angle and the use of the geometry of lines helped put some order to chaos. Overall, we felt there were good news stories but the photographs needed a clearer center of interest or slightly different moments - several times we said this is almost there, but the gesture or interaction was a little off.
