1st - Composition and emotion won this for me. The lighting on his face from the stadium lights accentuate his athletic features juxtaposed against nice soft background lighting and the use of the wide angle shot wide open keeps the eye on him but shows off the environment nicely. Though the caption does not accurately convey the message. Had I read this when it was published, I would have been quite confused.
2nd - Great expression and good use of black and white to draw the focus in on the musician and his instrument. The expression and body language won this over for me. 3rd. Nice portrait, great setup and athletic pose. It felt like a real swing. The only thing that hurt this from placing higher was the golf cart in the background. If you had time to set all this up, I'd like to have you wait for them to move if at all possible. It may not have been and so I leave that up to the photographer.
