The first-place story was incredibly well shot and great access was afforded to the photographer who obviously built great trust with their subjects. This one instantly rose to the top. We loved that it was in old school black and white, the somber hospice story was well-suited for that. We just would have ordered some of the similar images differently to make the visual flow of the story better. The photographer waited for some nice moments to make the second-place story stand out. There were just too many wide-angle shots for a pic story, some tighter frames would have made it sing better visually. And again, the order didn't have the best visual flow or a definitive closing image which we feel every picture story should have. But nice job overall. This was a very light category and we did not award a third place.
