The first place award went to a frame where the main subject was well-lit but we did feel it could have benefitted from tighter cropping. Good job getting the name of the injured firefighter for the cutline. Second place took a chance on getting a wider perspective of a lot of aspects during a brush fire situation. We found this was usefully informative. Kudos to the photojournalist who made a great effort to access a difficult-to-reach accident scene that tied up traffic for hours. The scene contains plenty of visual information to this a very informative photo.
