Photo essay selection was alright. We weren't thrilled with any of them. Many of them had too many photos that were similar, or lacked a clear visual narrative throughout. We chose Regional Rivals as the winner because of the clear attempt to make visually diverse images. Lots of attention worthy action and emotion, they did a great job working the space they were given. The runner up also found some cool moments to photograph. We like their selection of different images with an easy visual narrative to pick up on. Polar plunge got third because it was visually interesting, but lacked a clear narrative, especially because of the order they put the frames in.
