1st — This is such a beautiful but heartbreaking photo. The light perfectly illuminating the women's faces, the genuine emotion and interaction between mother and daughter in such a tough moment — this took a lot of skill to capture, and was a clear winner.
2nd — Another really great image, with palpable emotion; you can put yourself in the room. We also appreciated the thoughtful placement of the main subject among the people in the background.
3rd — We liked the intentionality in this photo, with the lines and layers leading your eye throughout. The intense blue hour color and silhouettes draw the viewer in, too.
Alt — We felt that this was a really poignant moment, and a different feel for a drag show photo. Nice light, and it's almost as if the scene/background matches the performer's outfit.
Overall — This was the strongest category. Some really great work in here, even for the images that didn't win!
