Judges Comments

The moody lighting and location of the first-place winner made it quickly rise above the rest. The only critique we had was that we wished the photographer had separated the person's head from intersecting with the horizon line. We liked the framing of the hockey sticks portrait but felt it could have been cropped in a bit (on top and from right side). The third-place silhouette was done well, but we wished it hadn't been so center-weighted, compositionally.
