First place - Would have cropped more to emphasize the elements such as the camera, hands, button, tie, etc and less of the back of his head would have made it a stronger photo.
Second place - we liked the composition and the fact that the focus was on phone and not in the background. It is a feel-good photo with the lights and colors.
Third place -would have cropped as a horizontal to make a stronger photo. Captured a nice moment but would have been better to show her face, shirt, crown, and ballot since the rest of the photo distracts from these elements.
Overall the category was pretty good but it had some photos that should have been in features and not general news.
