First place was a clear stand out. Excellent layering and leading lines. The judges wondered why this was not entered in the essay category as we wanted to see more images of this unique story that effected a family and the community who walked along side them. Second place had the two nice moments, and a thoughtful composition. Third place we struggled to award. Ultimately, we wondered if a stronger image could have been made from the situation - higher climactic moment, better position of photographer - but it beat out the others which were surprisingly few in number and poorly executed.
