Second place was awarded to the best of a large selection of baseball players sliding into a base. This photo showed more of the athlete's emotion with a good view of his face. Third place was given to the clean, peak action of the water polo goalie's save. Honorable mention was awarded to the photo of the billiards player because the tight composition immediately draws the viewer's attention to the intense focus of the player.
