Judges Comments

Congrats to all of the winners! Overall there were very few entries for this very busy news market. None of the big NYC papers entered, not sure why. Could be some good competition here in the Tri-State area. So we picked winners from some solid work, but in general, some weren't necessarily contest material. First place stood out for a nice moment with clean composition. Second place had the nice splash of red which stood out in the snow, but could have benefitted from a better/tighter crop. Third place was graphically interesting and the flying bird was in the perfect spot. Would have looked good in black and white since it was so monochromatic anyway.
