A pretty bleak field. Far too many entries that were simply out of focus. Too many photos that might have been interesting action moments, but were from behind, highlighting backsides. We did opt to give some awards, begrudgingly. Everything needed tighter crops. The end zone fumble recovery had a couple of good faces and was a peak action moment. Cropped tighter it might very well have popped. As is, in most fields this would have been a third place, or even HM photo. Second place for the basketball grapple, good faces, but really feels like it’s the end of the play. Third went to a clean, tight crop quarterback sack. The break-up in the image suggest it’s blown up a lot. Would be better if the ball were visible and not just implied.
