First Place: We know how hard it is to see emotion with masks on, but the emotion pours out of this image. We also appreciate the clean background and good lighting. Second Place: Emotion draws you into a well-composed photo that gives the viewer a sense of what's taking place. You feel like you're invited into the moment. Third Place: We wanted more information in the caption, but we chose this photo because of the clear emotion. The photographer captured a surprising amount of compassion and emotion at a school board meeting. Alternate: This is a neat way to compose the image. The colors stand out, and the subject's eyes draw the viewer in.
