This category was painfully small. First place did a good job of showing the care of firefighters taking one of their own fallen from a scene. This was probably difficult to get an angle on, and the photographer did a good job of tightly framing the action.
Second place could use some toning help in those shadow areas. I wish the firefighter was doing anything more illustrative than just walking through the scene. I'm sure the photographer felt that way too.
Third place was a decent enough frame of response to a bomb threat but wondering if there were other opportunities to pull back and frame those officers in the archways of the building to make something more graphic out of the scene.
