Judges Comments

With only two entries in the category the first discussion centered on whether either entry rose to the standard necessary for consideration. Far too often entries in the category end up as mere collections of vaguely related images with no variety in content, and often lacking in moment, or strong aesthetic. The judges decided that while neither entry was particularly strong, both rose at least to a minimum standard. The debate over place was brief. All agreed that the horse track had just a bit more visual and content depth and overall stronger aesthetics. The ice fishing had decent variety, but lacked much in the way of intimacy or moment.
