Judges Comments

Sort of a thin category. First place, the lighting was subtle but put some texture in his face, and his expression was effective. Second place, we liked that the photographer took a chance on a potentially disorganized situation and gave us something a little lighter, though we wished the background were better and the dogs weren't cut off how they were. Third place, nothing in the caption suggested why the water droplets were relevant, but we appreciated that the photographer took a bit of a risk here too and that the photo conveys a mood.
