We were surprised by how few entries there were. Guess a lot of sports were canceled? Nearly all of the photos submitted had busy/distracting backgrounds, too. If you are stuck in the stands due to the pandemic, think about ways you can use the high angle to clean up the background on some of your photos. First place had everything we usually look for in a good action picture - facial expressions, tangled bodies, the ball - although the crop felt a little awkwardly tight. Second was a nice moment but the player's face was not visible and the crop was also a bit tight. The crop on the third really confounded us - a lot of negative space arranged such that the frame feels unbalanced - but the moment was terrific and unlike many other images, it was a clean background!
