Spot news was a very poorly entered category and the judges were worried about awarding two images with similar content. Both first and second place depict the same type of scene but felt both deserved an award with the first image having a more subtle palette and beautiful line of fire suppressant. Third place contained a few different vignettes of firefighters in action but was lacking in composition or intentional framing.
