First place was easy winner in the category. Nice light, mood, and composition. Second was the ‘best of the rest.’ Third, well, yes, we hate it when judges don’t award all three places too. But, the view of the judges was that in a category where the situations are inherently controlled by the photographer, the bar is higher for composition and technical execution, and the rest of the category didn't quite rose up to the first two.
